I saw your question about the reciprocal structure. However I wasn't able to open your file because I don't have all those plugins installed. Could you save it with the mesh input to the reciprocal part internalized?
From your images I would guess that the issue might be related to how much the edges are extended to get them to cross over the ones they need to become tangent to, but not so much they collide with others.
