  • Hi

I'm working on traditional domes and I want to do my analysis with karamba. The material used is brick and I want to give thickness to the dome. When thickening in karamba comment, the thickness of the dome is extruded to inside or outside of the dome! For example, the outside to outside of the dome's span is 10 meters and the thickness of the dome is 1 meter toward the inside. When modeling, how much should I consider the span of the dome?

  • Hi, I need help with this case.

I want my structure to be deformed like the orange line, I already removed restrictions for rotation and it didn´t work. I'll be very grateful if someone can solve this.

  • Can someone help me with the definition of karamba cross range selctor connected to galapagos?!?!?!
  • Hi,

Thanks for the reply. It was  an attempt to see how far can I go with the form finding using karamba for my master thesis .I was trying to simulate core material.I discovered It is not realistic to do this in grasshopper since that needs professional fem software "3d meshes ".I am now using Autodesk robot to simulate different iteration of the model to prove it works first. Then I will look if it is that important to use the interface between grasshopper and the fem software.I would appreciate any advice from you.I am also looking for buckling analysis to evaluate modes to refine my design for modal displacement and deflection later on.

  • Hi,

I am trying to get an inner structure for a shell design that I am designing.I have tried this simple unite using the shell element in Karamba but the results are far beyond expectation. My reference was the waffle gh file in the examples.for the inner structure. The meshes are fine the first image shows the millipede solver result. So the problem is not a mesh problem and not a material problem because I tweaked the materials with no improved results.is it a shell element problem that I don't know ??

The backed image shows the inner walls without the outer ones although the outer ones are included in the calculation.2768924208?profile=RESIZE_1024x10242768924714?profile=RESIZE_1024x10242768924912?profile=RESIZE_1024x1024

  • Hi Karamba,
I know that all of you are quite busy and trying to help users as much as you can.
As was just wondering if you could take a look at thistopic related to buckling of members in Karamba. Robert started replying but, he might be busy until the end of the week.
So if you have some tiny amount of spare time, I would be very grateful.

    Danke.

  • I understood the FFFcomponent as a tool to eliminate the less used beams.

the TCE defines the most usage in compression <OR> tension. i think i need both criteria.

+ there is the old problem of leafing single beams, what doesn´t look useful at all.

-however I just wanted to redefine our work of the workshop - i wasn´t able to craete the same structure -yet !
